I was looking at some of the coil over kits that ground control has on their website and I about shat myself when I saw the prices. $300 for a spring set?

Those are exactly the same **** you already have on there. No coilover off ebay is going to ride well. Even those $300 ground control coilovers won't give you a decent ride unless you throw some $100+ shocks on there as well. Coilovers are stiff because they're not progressive, if you're looking to lower and get a good ride get progressive coils and not coilovers. TEIN Stechs lower around 1.5 to 1.8" depending on vehicle and can be installed with the stock shocks and the ride is closer to stock than most other springs.
If you want good ride go with springs unless you have $1000 to spend on real coilovers.
LOL, i sure hope you are kidding about comparing GroundControl coilovers with the egays. I know that with certain coilover sets (like the Ground Control's) the springs are changable to other springs with softer or stiffer spring rates to customize between street, light auto X, full race setups. Your going to need a good set of adjustable shocks either way since most coilovers come with pretty stiff spring rates.
