what rims to buy...
I just got my first ride a few months ago, a 1997 honda civic ex coupe, and im saving up the bills to get some rims... thing is im debating what size rims and wheels i should get...i want to get something thats actually driveable and that stays within the wheel diameter, so i dont screw up the ratios....im pretty sure 17's are too big to drive comfortably....any suggestions on a good fitment? I'd prefer black rims with a chrome or silver lip to stand out against my frost white paint....

i've got 17"s, the ride is definitely not hte most comfortable, 16"s are what i'd recommend for looks/comfort, but this topic gets debated ALL the time here on HCF. Some pople will reocmmend 15"s, but IMO they look way too small. Consider getting a mellow drop too, with rims (or even without), a dropped Civic will handle and look better then a stock suspension. I have 205/40/17 tires and they are just a little bit bigger than stock, i think 205 is the overall diamter that gets suggest the most.

rims don't determine the tire size if in respectable sizes (15-18)
15: good performance, good comfort
16: ok performance, ok comfort
17: semi performance, bad comfort
18: not much performance, very bad comfort
it's all in what you want, you can get 15-17 and keep stock tire sizes

with 17 inch rims wont the tires rub against the upper struts whenever i turn the wheel?

if u want ur speedo to read right, u need these sidewall aspect ratios:
15" wheel: 55
16" wheel: 45
17" wheel: 40
wether its a 15" wheel or a 17" wheel, i recommend getting a 205 section width. for 15's, ppl usually go with 195, but if u want better performance(and a meaner look IMO), then go with 205.
soo say u want a 15x7 wheel, the tire size i'd recommend/u need is 205/55R15.
im all for 15" wheels. lightweight, work well with the car since the old generation civics arnt large/bulky IMO, and alot of them can fit in just about anyones budgets.

17's will be fine on stock suspension. tho it'll look like a monster truck and u may not like it so much lol. i'd suggest getting atleast a tiny drop, im sure u'll find out fast that wheel gaps a bish lol.
