is a wheel alignment necessary after getting new rims and tires, its the proper tire eize with 16 in ch rims , 205-45-16, the streering is ok, but the wheel does shake a tad and is a little off, should i jus get the alignment?

 

no it is probably balancing that is doing the shake

how much should it cost to rebalance my tires, why is an alignment not necessary?? just curious shouldnt u get one after new rims and tires??

 

if u payed for just to have the tires put on, then theres a good chance the guy obviously didnt balance. the tire mounting machine and wheel balance machine are compeletly different. balancing shouldnt cost more than like $40, dosnt take long and is easy to do. putting new wheels on dosnt affect toe or camber in any way. if it did, ppl would be getting alignments like theres no tomorrow...

 

alignment is needed to realign the suspension geometry. new wheels shouldn't change the geometry. if the wheels are not straight, that is a whole different issue but it's not fixed with an alignment. you'll need one if you change a ball joint, shocks, springs, etc...

 

thanks for clearing that up, well the guy did balance my tires i saw him put it on the machine, i guess he did a crappy job
