Default Wheel Problems

OK, i did search - and found that i probably need 205/40/17 tires... but it wanted to post my story here, say hi and let me know what you guys think.

I have 97 civic. I took it in to get my tires rotated Yesterday and my allignment was off and my inside of my front tires was a bit worn. they wouldnt rotate so i figured i'd buy new wheels. I decided to get 17's.

So i decided on some 17x7 inch TSW Volcano Hyper Grey. Simple wheel, looks clean. my tire is a 215/45zr-17 Zexius tire... When on my car it looked pretty slick, but when i drove it home with my mom in the passenger seat and my old wheels(minus tires) in the back it rubbed a few times when i hit bumps.. i figured it was the weight of the wheels and passenger maybe, and when i got home i took out the wheels nad went around the block and it didnt rub when im in it by myself, but then when my friend (150 pound male) rode in it with me it rubbed on some bumps... and a little when i turn. The car is bone stock except for wheels, its not lowered.

I dont know why it rubs, but i dont want a car thats functional for only 1 person (i got a motorcycle.....). Im not sure when it rubs, i think the back hits the fender, not inside the wheelwell, but im not sure where my front rubs. . i dont think my car gets that low with 350 more pounds(i weigh 200) ...

Im off to get my windows tinted in about 3 hours, and i will be calling the wheel shop. What are my options? Do these wheels fit my car? I was thinkign of what they can do, and maybe put lower profile tires,, or maybe the wheels arnt the right size 17x7 should fit!? Will they say i need new springs? i didnt wanna get new springs, it more money than i wanted to spend :-S

Advice or personal experience anyone?

my question is the width is making it rub? or the height? 215 down to 205's? maybe lower? 45 down to 40? or what?

Whats the offset of the wheel....AND, a 215/45 is TOO big, too tall. go to a 205/40. Your problem is coming from 2 areas.

You can always find out where a tire is rubbing by inspecting each wheel well and looking for tire marks.
Your new tires are too big, height-wise.
