Wider Tires

A 205 is pretty wide for such a light car, and a 205/40-17 still fits stock fenderwells with a 1-2" drop if you use the correct rims. If one goes much wider you'll get rub, a possible increase in bearing wear, and decreased traction in rain/snow. After 205s, I'd look for improvements in handling somewhere besides tire width. There's a point of diminished returns when it comes to streetable performance.
Hey, I don't mean to jack anyone's thread, but I have a buddy who just bought some 18X7.5 Motegis with 235/40s on them for real cheap to put on his 97 (I think) Civic EX. Now he is (not surprisingly) having some rubbing issues in the back. I'm not a Civic guy at all, so I was wondering what any of you may recommend to get rid of the problem. From the looks of it the car looks like it may be lowered, but I don't see too many Civics around here on 18s, so I don't know exactly what it'd look like if it is or isn't. I've read some saying that fender flares are an option, but I doubt he'd go that route, so anything else in mind? Thanks in advance.
