Default 2001 Automatic Civic EX Will Not Shift

Hello everyone. Hopefully there is someone out there that can help put me on the right track with this problem. When I left for work this afternoon the tranny was slipping in every gear and when the car warmed up the slipping ceased. This evening the car did not want to shift in to reverse or even drive for that matter. Eventually it did and it was slipping in every gear and quite often[:@][:@][:@][:@]. But again when the car warmed up the slipping went away unless I stepped on the gas. When I parked the car in the driveway and checked the transmission fluid the dip stick read full and it had a slightly burnt smell to it but it really wasn't that bad (I've seen and smelled worse). Now the car will not even shift into any gear[:@]. It seems like it wants to just stay in Neutral. Can someone clue me into what the problem might be??? Could a shift cable be frozen (if the car has one). I'm baffled. The car seemed to work fine yesterday.

Thanks.
