Default Very loud tranny

i have a 95 vx hb and the tranny seems REALLY loud. it works great and shifts good but it just sounds like theres no oil in it or something, andi've ridden in quite a few other civics but none seem as loud as mine.
i checked the oil and it was fine, but i replaced it anyway just to be safe. any ideas?

Does it make noise when sitting still?, while driving? and does the noise goes away when you step in the clutch?
If sound goes away when u step in the clutch = TOB (throw out bearing)
In gear while driving (all gears) = Transmission (need another tranny)

Sometime people mistake other sounds for transmission sounds. For instance, your tires could simply be imbalanced, or out of round. If your tires are out of round then the noise increases as speed gets higher. Maybe if you could provide more info we could help a little bit more. And you don't necessarily need a new transmission. Just give a little more information and we can help.

then i think there might be 2 problems. there is a noise at idle if i let the clutch out, and i was afraid it might be the throw out bearing. and the other is just loud gear noise, which could be a worn out tranny i guess, but it just works good so it doesnt seem like a big problem... unless its gonna let go any second. man, i hope not.

what $ am i looking at for a replacement?

Just went through this...Main shaft input bearing. It eventually fails causing the main input shaft seal to be torn apart. This causes an oil (tranny side) leak which toasts the clutch. Start loking for a tranny swap or one that can be rebuilt, and a new clutch. I had mine rebuilt (all new bearings (syncros where fine)) a new clutch, master and slve cylinders and lightened flywheel installed for 1350.00. Granted I'm in California, but it was done in a day and everything came with a warranty for 12 mths or 12K miles.
On hind site I should have found an SI tranny and had that rebuilt/installed.
