Default 2010 Honda Civic SI- clutch

Hi everyone I have a 2010 Honda Civic SI with 13k on it and I took it into the dealer to have the transmission synchronization fixed as it kept grinding when going into third gear. Well today they call and tell me that the clutch is 60% worn and want to replace the clutch for $400 as well as fix the sync issue. They tell me this isn't covered by my warranty. The car was brand new when I got it in December. Is this normal? should I demand that they fix it and it be covered under warranty?

Is the clutch related to the synchronization or is it totally separate.

any information would be appreciated.

thanks

I have an 5 year 80k mile warranty on the care. Also the car has under 50k which states the power train is covered including transmission but it doesn't specifically state clutch.
