Default 5th gen 1.5 trans question

my 92 tranny is dying.... quickly.
it makes a miserable noise until the clutch is pushed in, so i've deduced that it is the input shaft bearing.

i'm debating on pulling the tranny apart and just replacing the bearing, and have found a couple good write-ups on the topic. although, i might try to find a used one in my area.... and here is my question.

i found a newly rebuilt trans for $150 out of a 99 and the guy claims it will fit any 92-00 that has a 1.5 or 1.6. could there any truth to this?

thanks for the help guys. i'm new to tearing into civics. this is just a little daily driver i go to work in.

it'll fit. any SOHC D-series hydraulic transmission will work. (92-00 SOHC Civic transmissions)

you might as well just replace the bearing. who knows, the bearing in the other transmission could go bad too.

2.5 hours will get your transmission out.
another 10 minutes might reveal missing ***** in your counter-shaft rear bearing.

be careful what you do with your time.
