Default 6 speed

would it be possible to swap a 6 speed into my si? say from a 7th gen si. the close ratio is killing me on the highway for fuel and not to mention my hearing from the exhaust. i figured thats why the new ones have the extra gear for highway. i already have the natorious 3rd gear grind so i was going to have that fixed but it got me to thinking about a 6 speed

probably not. youd need to use a B series tranny with your engine (Y21, Y80, S80, S4C, ect). im sure it can be done but i would think that with that transmission you would need the engine series its designed for. im not exactly the most knowlageable person when it comes to honda transmissions, so you dont want to take my word as truth...but i think ive got a pretty good idea.

Even if you had a 6th gear, you'd still be losing gas milage past 55-60 mph because of aerodynamics. You'd save some gas, but mostly you'd just be saving yourself engine wear.

If you want to do both there's an easy solution: slow down.

home depot front lips have been proven to increase mpg. you can always swap your 5th gear for an ls to drop your cruising rpms.

i could care less about the mpgs i just dont like driving long distences listening to a loud pipe at 70 mph and being at 4000 rpms.thats why i was wondering if a 6 speed would fit

rsx-s swap is your best bet then.....although i do remember reading somewhere a few years back about a b-series 6spd. it was very expensive and im not sure if there still being made.

True, it's annoying, but it's not going to hurt anything.

Is it not kappa? If I rev it like that too long on the highway I'll smell buring oil.

You can get a custom 5th gear made, adelleda. I haven't looked into it too much, but one guy quoted me 900 + shipping.

Well, if your engine's burning oil, your engine's burning oil, but that's almost certainly not what made it start (unless it was a bad rebuild or something).
