Default 96 vs 98 Automatic Tranny opinion.

Hello all ,

First time here your information is invaluable.

I own a 96 Honda Civic ex and looking to purchase a 98 LX (80k) for my daughter. People I work with far more knowledgeable then I about cars
say the 98 comes with a bad tranny.

Wondering if that's true.

Thanks in advance,
MP.

I have a 98 LX with 126k and is running awesome.

The 1996-2000 civic transmissions are the same. Except that the EX's are geared lower than the DX/LX's.

The 2001-2003ish civic auto's on the other hand do have iffy transmissions.
