you can make it perform decently, the problem is that honda autos wont stand for nearly as much abuse as a manual. if you make some good power, you will start eating trannys.

The auto tranny's also have more power loss than the manuals. The torque converter is a hp chomper. It also decreses efficiency as the engine is always spinning a little faster than the wheels.

I say either a swap, or a boost should head you in the right direction.

What would you guess the whp would be for a 127hp engine?

My friend (dumbass) has told me that a rebuilt auto trans can actually do better on the quarter mile. I can understand how this is true because i've heard that domestics are better with an auto trans because they have good transmissions. So i guess you can have ur trans rebuilt to handle extra power, but then its gonna be expensive. Taking an auto trans apart isn't easy.

For really nice, high horsepower cars (like the supra in February's Turbo mag), an auttomatic can perform a lot better than a manual. But with stock youll lose power. I too am about to be the new owner of an automatic, but plan to swap to manual when I do an engine swap. At a minimum, a manual swap would cost 500 bucks, and I wouldnt pay anything over 1500.
