Default Axle

I'm planning on changing the axle on my car this weeked, anything i should know? The service manual says to drain the tranny fluid, but last time the mechanic did it and he didn't drain the tranny fluid. Anyone know anything about this? Are there any snap rings or little things i should look for that i might miss?

Default RE: Axle

i jack my car up high enough on the side im pulling the axle, no need to drain the fluid then. its really a straight foward procedure. remove wheel, axle nut, lower ball joint, lower strut fork. and all slids out.
