I am a newbie so I am hoping you can make me smart. Here is my question: I have a D15B7 and I am looking at replacing the transmission. Is the SI tranny an LSD? Will an SI VTEC tranny bolt onto my D15? Will I need new axels or drive shafts? Would you recommend such a thing? Thank you in advance.

Nah man, you have to get a tranny to match your series of engine. So, you'll need a tranny from a D series engine, the B series from the Si won't fit.

 

the d-series Si vtec tranny would work wouldn't it? It's not and LSD.

 

this is a D series engine. a vtec D16z6 to be exact.

ok, so since they are both d series with sohc the tranny is interchangeable but what about axels and such?

Sorry, that's totaly my bad. I forgot the older Si was a D... I was thinking 99-00. Disregard my last post.

 

yeah, the sohc SI trans from a 92-95 will work fine. but it doesnt have LSD. though it will improve your times, as it has better gear ratios. i could pull with dohc SIs till about halfway through second gear with my d15 w/vtec tranny.

 

can i use my current axels (94 D15B7)? this is a 94 SI D16Z6 tranny? thank you.
