Default Cx tranny

I have a cx transmission on a d16y8 and i've heard that the cx transmission is possibly the worst transmission you could have. My 93 hatch has the d16y8 and i dont think it is as fast as it should be...i lost to a v6 tacoma lol and im wondering if this transmission is maybe the cause.

yes the cx tranny if for fuel economy, get an si or ex tranny, they have closer gears designed to keep you in the power band.
