defective throwout bearing
i went to my mechanic 2day to get my inspection and asked him wat the noise was wen i engaged in first gear... kindasounds like ur peeling out..... he told me wen the ppl who put my clutch in installed it, they used an old or defective throwout bearing.... my warranty (3 months) for my clutch is over....... should i get my throwout bearing reeplaced or can i leave it he way it is, i mean to replace it u have to take out the whole tranny..... which is going to take a lot of time and $$$$, wut do ui think??
Hi everyone!
Ijust bought a 2000 honda civic with 95 600km. The honda dealership did an inspection andI took it for a test drive and everything looked good. It's been a few days, and i've notcied that it makes this weird noise whenI turn my wheel when i'm in reverse on a hill. It sounds like clunk clunk clunk. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

i had a si that did the grinding noise on the 1st & 2nd gear.. sometime it don't make the noise if you take off faster.. i tho it was the tob, but if you ever do a quick shift and hear grinding when going into gear, it could be your transmission.. happen to me.. and find out it was the tranny.. oh well
Yeah you siad it makes a whining sound in first gear. Basiclly there's only two things that could be. The guy that did your transmission either switched out your helicut first gear for a staright cut first gear...highly unlikely since that would cause him extra time and effort...or your throw out bearing is going bad. As far as not replacing it, that's intirley up to you. You will have to pull the tarnsmission back to replace it. If you can stand the noise then you pretty much can leave it. The only thing that could go wrong is that it will "freeze" itself to the input shaft and will burn your clutch up.
