Default good oil for trans

Ok, about a month ago I had problems with my tranny grinding when I shifted. I changed the oil and put AMS OIL 10W40 in it. Fixed the problem at normal driving conditions but when I really get on it (passed 6K) it will grind. A friend of mine said it could be the oil I put in it. He said to try the Honda stuff because they usually put additives in it. I was wondering if this is true? I want to try different oil before I condem the syncros being bad. Has anyone had better results with certain oils than others? I hope the syncros aren't bad.

synchros are bad. sorry to say it. fluid wont make that much difference. you can try the honda fluid to see if you can buy some time, but it probably wont help much.

What about thicker oil? At least to make it last the rest of this summer, and maybe not grind so bad. When I do need to fix it should I just rebuild it or buy a new or used tranny? I heard people have bought trannys for 200 bucks on ebay.

yeah, just buy a used one. if you go with a thicker oil it might buy you a little more time. dont go much thicker though. maybe 20-50.

Don't tach it so high until you can get it fixed. That's my opinion. Especially if you know you have tranny problems already.
