Default Its 4,000rpm normal to shift to 3rd gear?

Does anybody knows what its the right rpm to shift to 3rd gear? I been having this problem with my Honda. when Its on 2nd gear and i reach the rpm to 4,000 and then shift to 3rd gear, it grinds. i been wondering if i reving it to much to shift. below 4,000rpm does not grind. but the car was not like that before. i remember that i rev the rpm much higher than 4,000rpm and would not grind. if anyone knows something about it please let me know.

Hmm... do you think that's why my tranny grinds (sound actually sounds like it's coming from shifter... a tranny grind is very loud and this is a lot more subtle) sometimes when shifting from 2nd to 3rd in the high RPMs?

How hard is replacing the shift fork?

its not to bad, biggest thing is just pulling the gears up and out and setting them aside. there is a mini b*tch pin on one of the shift forks that you have to remove it from and switch the piece to the new shift fork. look around for OEM service Manuel in a pdf file and download it, it will show you how to go over everything in the tranny.
