Loose shifter
I am looking at a 94 civix ex 5spd to buy from a guy on autotrader, the shifter on it is really loose feelings. I can be driving in gear and wiggle it around. The tranny shifts good though. I was just wondering why it is doing it, how bad it is and how much it would cost to fix.
You should buy the car and buy a short shifter and bushings from DC sports or Revo... like 75 bucks and you will have shorter throw when you shift... if the transmission is slipping out of gear that is expensive, but if it is the stick then you're looking at maybe 25 bucks to have someone tighten it down or put down a massive 100 and really be happy.
ORIGINAL: HARI.
the shifter bushings need to be replaced. get energy suspension polyurethane bushings for replacement. should cost you no more than $15 bucks.

Like 15-25 bucks to get it fixed... simple simple
Ok, cool. I just thought that something so wierd would be more expensive to fix. It just seems so out that it can be in gear, driving and wiggle it left to write from wall to wall. Like it was on the nuetral line.
Not to argue, but to add one more possible reason. I had slightly different experience on my 84’ (which has exactly the same design). Open link and look at the picture. In my case parts ## 4,5,12,24 were reduced to trash. Replacement solved the problem.
