Default Manual Transmission Fluid

Alright I'm new to this forum, first post.
I have a question, which might be stupid, but I wanna ask before I do something crazy. So, in my '94 civic (Manual), I was wondering about the transmission fluid. On the cap for the resovoir it says to use DOT 3/4 brake fluid. And I wanted to know if this is correct, casue my instinct is saying no. If it's not what transmission fluid should I use to drain/refill it?

What are you talking about, they are not the same by a long stretch.

The transmission takes engine grade oil and on the 94 it is SH grade of 20w30 and should take about 1.9 quarts.

The clutch takes brake fluid either DOT3 or DOT4. If you need to add any then you need to look for the leak. If you are do a flush then use DOT4.

First off you shouldn't have a resovoir for the tranny fluid. I know 92-95 manual trannys are sealed. I just put in 10w40 engine oil.. and brake and clutch fluids are the same.
Dont use DOT4 brake fluid. Dot 4 is for higher performance vehicles that need a higher boiling point so it won't boil under heavy braking.. if you need brake/clutch fluid just use DOT3

that's the clutch fluid reservoir you are talking about. it uses brake fluid.

the tranny uses honda manual transmission fluid.
