is my tranny is messed up?
i let my friend drive and he put it into first without pushing in the clutch. now it feels like i can put it into gear without pushing the clutch in. its really loose. and when i shift it feels looser than it had five minutes ago. im scared the transmission might be messed up? iuno. can you guys help me out? tell me, is the tranny F'd up? or is it still ok and just looser... haha.
Since my question is so similar I am just going to add it to this thread instead of making another one:
While sitting in line at a drive through with the car (manual trans) in neutral and my foot on the brake and not on the clutch my passenger knocked my shifter into reverse. There was a lound noise and the car died immediatly.
What damage was done? Would the forward gears be affected or just reverse? Is this serious? Should I go to the shop? It shifted and drove out fine but (it may just be my imagination) but it sounded funny. Not the shifting, but just the running noise... What should I look for? This is a 2005 civic.
Now I hear every little noise and cringe... Is the doomed to start having issues in the near future?

first off...OUCH!!!
iheartmyhonda..
Sounds like the synchros and gears just got a bunch of wear on them. Was the car rolling or dead stop? upshifting or downshifting? did it stall like falias' did? make a crunch grinding noise? read on below as to what to do now.
falias....
the loud noise was gears coming into contact with each other. The noise can be attributed to damage (gear tooth missing a piece), but since it's working I would go get the fluid changed and inspected for gear pieces or bits of metal. No reason to worry excessivly over this...it happens. If it's still shifting fine you probably didn't tear your clutch apart, so go check and watch what stick your passengers are grabbing for.
Good luck guys and let us know if you find out anything.

I don't know a lot about cars... but this is a manual and doesn't have transmission fluid....
Can anyone offer some insight?
