Default noob needs tranny help

hi and thanks foryour time

i'mmore of a supra guy(3 of emin fact) and i am completely out of my element here.

my wifes ex- husband's ex-wifes son(think on that one for a sec) has a stock 90 5-speed dx

car can sit at idle, and shifter can be put in any gear slot, with clutch, and no, grinding, or any ill affect at all. the issue is, it dosent go into any gear either, just the shifter hitting the hole

no excessive play, so not bushings i believe, and shaft is moving to trans, almost nothing is there, but shift effort feels completely normal, like something inside tranny is disconnected

has anyone run into this problem before, and how major a fix it is/could be

i just want a second opinion before i pull tranny out and apart

thanx for your time

Did you try and move the parts where the shifter connects to the tranny? Like the part that the shifter moves (dunno whats its called). Anyway, its on the trans. Anyway, if you move this and nothing happens then that means something inside the trans is broken so you will have to pull the trans and take it apart to get to the bottom of the issue. I think you already know this, but i've never read/heard about this on this forum but maybe some1 else has seen it.
