5 speed-Well I just bought a car and the previous owner cut down the stock shifter cause he didnt like it so long, when the car is not moving, it goes in gears smoothly but when im driving and shifting it sort of has a lil resistance and has like a notchy feel to it. Is it anything to do with the cut shifter or tranny problems? plz help

I think shifting gears may be more difficult due to the reduced leverage of the shorter shifter. First try replacing the cut shifter with a stock shifter. You might be able to get an inexpensive one from a salvage yard.
