Default Short Shift(er)

My kid wantsa short shift(er)for his 02 Civic for his birthday.

What is the technical difference between these two?

Which of these typeswould you rather have?

REVO is not necessarily the brand I'm looking for. I just used them for the pics.

Well, I'm not sure about the Revo models but the purpose of a short shifter is to reduce the throw, or distance one needs to move the shifter in order to switch gears. They are often called short throw shifters, or short shifter for short (no pun intended). There are also chopped shifters. These are when someone takes a hacksaw to their stock shifter or to their short shifter. This decreases the height of the shifter. In my opinion, the chop shifter is silly and difficult to drive with.

I got my short shifter from eBay for 15 bucks with shipping.

You need the one in the first picture, I have the same on my 02ex, it's fantastic, shortest throw by far outta the very few companies that make short shifters for that model.

Well, I'm not sure for the 2002 model. But speaking for the 92-95 model it was very easy. A Chilton's manuel would help, or Haynes.

their not to hard to install, i had some help with my mechanic cause the bolts were seized and hard to pry off, so he needed a torch, but since u have a newer model, it shouldnt be to difficult, jus by some penetration oil to lube up the bolts, their is a DIY thread in the diy section that shows u step by step on how to do it with pictures as well, very helpful... check it out
