What makes a shifter a short shifter is the metal between the pivot ball and the linkage joint is longer than stock. Cutting the shifter to be shorter than stock doesn't make it a short throw shifter, it just makes it literally a short shifter.

Cheap no-name aftermarket short throw shifters often have the metal between the pivot ball and the linkage joint a little bit too long, causing the shifter to hit the exhaust.

But no one else is talking about "short" shifters. They're talking about short throw shifters.

The only real solution is to get a better short throw shifter.
