Short shifter problem please help!

What makes a shifter a short shifter is the metal between the pivot ball and the linkage joint is longer than stock. Cutting the shifter to be shorter than stock doesn't make it a short throw shifter, it just makes it literally a short shifter.
Cheap no-name aftermarket short throw shifters often have the metal between the pivot ball and the linkage joint a little bit too long, causing the shifter to hit the exhaust.
