short shifter strips tranny?
I have a friend with a 1995 Integra GSR with about 110,000 miles on it. He recently had to get his whole trans replaced because the gears where all striped out in it. The mechanic told him that this happened because of his short shifter he had on it. And something about the gears not being able to fully engage. Have you guys heard of this problem or think it is possible?
i don't understand how it wouldn't engage all the way, but you can shift a lot faster which gives the synchros less time to do their job and can cause premature transmission wear especially if driven hard
that cant be the fault of the short shifter. all it is is a bar of metal with a bearing at the bottom. not getting it entirely into gear is the drivers fault which in turn might strip the gears. i've never had that problem with my short shifter, if anything i think its easier to know when ur in gear.
