Default Tranny trouble.

Everytime I down shift I hear a whistle type grinding noise. I have a 5 speed. I am trying to figure out what it is, I took it to a shop and they said it was a heat shield vibrating. So they lifted the car up and a heat shield was loose but that isnt what was vibrating. Someone else told me that it was some type of bearings. I will appreciate all of the help i can get. THANK YOU

if its every time you down shift then its your tranny for sure. take it to a transmission place and tell them whats up they should know what to tell you.

what year tranny? what kinda milage on it? most transmission whining noises is caused by the isb(input shaft bearing) wearing out. although it could be any bearing inside the tranny.
