I am new here, looking into purchasing a 94 civic ex. I have been test driving one and have found that underload at about 5 grand and up, if I try and shift from 2nd to 3rd it will grind. It is even worse from 4th to 5th. The owner of the car says that he has no problems with it if the clutch is all the way depressed. However, I made sure the clutch was al the way in before shifting and it still grinds. I am thinking its the synchros going out. The owner had the car checked out and they said there was nothing wrong with the synchros ( I doubt they drove the car around and checked to see if it did grind at high rpm) Is there anything else that would cause this grinding into 3rd and 5th but no other gears?
