Default Front Speakers???

I just purchased a 2000 Civic Coupe EX and am looking to upgrade speakers.

I got a steal on a set of Alpine SPR-69LP 6x9" (Type-R's) for the rear

I am looking for a set for the front, good quality and reliability.

Let me know what's up.

If you already have some type S rears, might as well match em with type s front's. They run about 90 bucks or so, and can be pushed without an amp, but might sound better with a small 4 channel version.

I honestly believe that the majority of sound, in a decent system, comes from the back of the car, my high's up front just tweak the high's and midrange sound. If you skimp a little on the door speakers, you can get by, but a true audio person will tell ya to go big or go home.

I am cheap, so I tend to tell people to get a decent speaker, that is rated pretty high from other users, and can be pushed decently without an amp. If you have subs, and you run them most of the time, you won't notice minor distortion on your high's.

However, some head units are different. For me, to get my bass, Ikeep my bass low and my bass boost on the amp high, so that my mids are getting minor bass signals, without a high pass filter. Some decks also have the individual sub bass/voulme control, which helps alot when you are running high's without an amp. Too much bass will distort an un-amped high. Anyway, if you want an amped system, we can make more suggestions.. I would stick with Alpine, or Infinity references, even, yes, pioneer can add some decent front high's, and would sound alot better then the blown speaker :-)

i think my system sounds really good. the speakers are really good and believe me, the subs will hit. i hardly ever turn mine up though but even when i do, no distortion and the type r's sound really good. im very happy with everything i have.

when i bought my car it had Pioneer front and rears already. I kept htem in there and am still using them today. Alpine is always good, and these Pioneers i got sounds really good as well. Check ebay and get some newname brand stuff for a decent price. Off-brand/generic audio components off Ebayare horrible, for real.

inifinity reference FTW, i have the infinity reference 6010 components. the highs will hurt your ears, and if you got an amp for them they would sound that much better
