So I'm planning on getting new front speakers for my 99 civic ex 2dr. I want to get Alpine because I have an Alpine headunit and rear speakers. I'm wondering if I should get just speakers or speakers/crossovers/tweeters. Another thing I was wondering is I've heard that you have to cut part of the door apart to get the speakers to fit. Is this true on all Alpine speakers or just some. I would like to avoid this if possible, but not a big deal if I can't avoid it. One last thing is my rear speakers play lows really well, so I'm looking for some that play highs well for the front.
I have the Alpine CDA9884 headunit and SPR-69C rear speakers
Thanks for any opinions

well you could always get some speaker pods for the doors or kick panels.

for most good speakers, the magnet is too big to fit without cutting out the cavity behind the factory speaker. its actually pretty easy to do with either a dremel tool or some kind of air saw. It pretty common to have to cut it out and theres a lot of people on here including myself that have done it.
I have Alpine SPR-17S type r 6.5" components, and I had to cut it out, but it is completely worth it.

Where did you hide the crossovers for that set? Inside the door would be my guess. And do the tweeters fit without any modifications?

All four? why do you feel the need for 2 sets of comps lol.
Yes it's definitely worth it to cut, etc. But the speaker might not even fit period, like mine. I had to cut everything out of the hole to get mine to fit.

my crossovers are in the doors, mounted behind the arm rest, just to the rear of the door pull. if you get it right it clears the door panel and does not get in the way of anything.
by tweeters fit right into the stock location without any mods. I held them in place using some good plastic epoxy.

I hope I don't have to cut out the whole door panel. My door panel looks different then yours Superfly, so I hope that makes all the difference. I am thinking about getting the SPR-17S as well. I was looking at them before but was concerned about fitment for all three components. Sounds like it soundn't be to bad if I don't run into Superfly's problem.
