Another motor swap thread (h22a/b18c5 with goodies)!
Hey guys well Ive decided Im going to probally keep the old civic for another full year (its a 1994 honda civic cx hatch, so basically in Canada that is the no features model such as pw/pl/ac etc, however that also makes it the lightest of the eg series!)
Anyways I have two swaps available to me, let me tell you what each one is and consists of, and then let me know which one would be better to have and if I should even bother. The way I look at it is I can always pull the motor when the car is done with and sell it or put it in another civic.
1st motor
jdm h22a for the 92-95, specs from seller are below and its got alot of good stuff including a lsd trans and Hondata!
Motor is in great shape - did a compression test the other day (see pics below) but numbers were all 230+.
Comes with:
- Engine / Tranny / Distributor / Harness / Short ram intake with AEM filter / rad hoses / axles / everything you need to turn key the motor in your car
- Hasport billet mount kit (bolts in with two holes drilled and the removal of your passenger side mount - EASY)
- Stainless megan header (previous owner crushed it and attempted a fix, not in the greatest shape but works)
- Shifter cables and shifter box trimmed and drilled to bolt to floor of EG with minor modification to tunnel
- Hondata S300 with H22 map
- 9lb flywheel installed already
- 550 CC RC injectors already installed (ready for boost or nitrous)
- Brand new in box (not installed) mFactory LSD
only pic
2nd motor
B18C5 type r motor
Specs from seller:
Includes recently installed Exedy stage 1 clutch, axles, ecu, mounts, 4-1 stainless header, LSD trans.. everything you need for a 92-95 eg civic
So basically what motor would you personally go with? I can get a great and basically the same price on each motor and they are both completely ready to swap no parts needed, what honestly would be best in my little eg hatch? I would do some track days with this car (not 1/4 mile but actual track with corners, but for fun of course) plus I just want a quick civic on the street and not my slow d15b7 lol. I can have it in the car in early April, so this will give me a good 7 months of great road conditions to enjoy before winter starts to hit. The b18c5 would be fun to swap myself as a little project, and it looks super clean and I know the guy who's car it was in, as well 9000rpm goodness lol. But that h22a with a lsd, and hondata 300 map tuning would be a little monster in my hatch!

me personally... i would go with da b18c5 since its lighter than da h22... n u would be better with da b18c5 to pick up quicker on da corners... but its really up to wat u like. motors really dont matter, wat matters is if da driver knows how to drive it.
