In my experience with friends cars, it kinda works. A last ditch effort at best. Changing your shifting habits to use your syncros less helps too.

yeah i just got my car and goin into third at a higer speed seems to grind a tad, so if i clean the tranny out and put 2 quarts of the synchromesh friction reducer stuff will it make that go away? and is it ok torun semi synthetic in a Ys1?

I've seen it help minor grinding, but that was with a full replacement...and it only helped for so long. Basically, use it to give you time to save up for a new transmission.

Whether or not its safe in your trans is your call.
