Ed, my mechanic changed the transmission fluid, but unfortunately, Honda doesn't bother to put in a tranny filter. The car is my daughter's and actually has 75k miles. I'm hoping the shudder doesn't return, but if it does, the car will be traded in for something else. I'm a Honda man, but she's ready for a change after this adventure. A replacement (rebuilt) tranny is more than she wants to spend on a repair, so a new car would be in the picture.

Thanks for getting back and clarifying, Duane. Honda transmissions are weak. Please don't flame me gang, this is just from my experience and my co-workers who have all replaced auto transmissions in their Honda cars/vans. I drive standard shift cars. They are cheaper anyway. That is what my son learned on as well. When you are shifting, steering, clutching and accelerating/braking all four limbs are engaged. No time for texting and nonsense was what I figured.

Sorry, went afield there. Anyway, if you keep that fluid good and fresh that transmission may last several hundreds of thousands of miles. That's my hope for you and your daughter.
