Default "pulling" gauges- 01 ex coupe

when my car is running, whether it be at idle or at 7000 rpm, my gauges "pulse." this is kind of annoying because i just did the big three wiring upgrade, and have just recently bought the car. has anyone else run into this problem. also while i am on the topic of gauges, i have both the check engine light and maint. required lights illuminated on my dash.

You're saying that all the lights on the car pulse bright and dim, or just something is strange with the gauges?

The maintenance required light is merely based on a timer that you can reset (after doing the maintenance). I think it is reset by holding the trip odometer button down, read the owner's manual for more details.

To find out why the check engine light is on you will need an OBDII scanner, or you can take the car to a consumer auto parts store (Advance, O'reilley, Checker, etc.) and they will scan it for you for free.

When you take the car to an auto parts store to have them pull the CEL codes, also have them test the charging system. The voltage regulator in the alternator may be faulty.
