ORIGINAL: =chris=

2 x 12's or 3 x 10's?! Jesus dude, I'm still gonna need some room in the back, lol. I'm not really going for the full over-the-top-make-my-ears-bleed sound system, heheh.

For now I'll be sticking with a single I think. I appreciate what you guys are saying tho, 2 x 12" subs would kick *** bigtime, and 3 x 10" must be unreal. Bit OTT for me tho...

So far my system comprises of...

Alpine CDA 9847r with iPod adapter
30Gb Apple Ipod Video
Infinity Reference 5 1/2" speakers up front (brand new, literally only just fitted)
Pioneer 350w 6x9s in the rear

I plan to swap the 6x9's for an Infinity set, as my Pioneer ones were bought second-hand from a mate. They've seen a lot of abuse over their life and now seem to rattle on the lower frequencies. Still not bad for £10 each tho, lol.
Aight, i think i get what you are sayin. You want a little more quality over da BOOM BOOMs. I would go with a good 10" driver and then google a Sub Box Calculator or just go to www.the12volt.com and use the one they got. Build a box that will fit in your car and try to tune it to about 20Hz. Then i would use a 600-1000Watt amp to drive the ****. At least that is what i have planned for mine and i think thats about what you wanna do with yours.

As far as building your box i would build it out of MDF board 5/8"-3/4" thick.

Does that about answer your question?

Yea, basically it does.

The only Sub I have had much to do with personally is my brothers JBL setup, which comprises of a 12" Sub and a 600W Amp. It's quite funny actually because his car is a totally standard Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec, but the sound system rocks. Feels as if the doors would fall off if it went any louder....lol. I would like my setup to be a little more defined though. I hate it when I see people with all Bass and no quality to the music. Don't see the point in spending $100's on a massive Vibrator!

As for what Subs I want.....I've been looking into the Vibe Blackair series, as they seem superior quality to others in the simialr price range. I visited my local Halfords superstore the other day to see the display model, and the first thing I noticed is how tight the rubber around the cone is. It's more like a thick rubber seal! Overall it looked very well made - far better than the cheap JBL subs. Not too bad price either, only Halford's is reknowned for charging through the teeth, so I'm thinking Ebay will be the best option.

What do you guys reckon?
