Component speakers generally sound better because you can mount the tweeters up high, more in line with your ears. With one-piece speakers the high frequency sound comes out of the stock place low on the door panel and a lot of it gets muffled in the carpet, seats, etc.

The downside is they are harder to install because you need to do something to mount the tweeters, and you may need more power than the head unit's internal amp to drive them properly.

actually, you WILL need more power than the HU can put out, and thats true for any decent speakers.

And it's noe exactly that you can mount the tweeter high up, it's that you can mount it to on/off axis and wherever you think it sounds best
