98 H/U install questions
So I'm getting ready to do a HU install on a 98. Before I get started, I wanted to say:
- The car already has a wiring harness, there is a crappy Jensen I'm removing and replacing.
To get to the radio, are there ONLY 2 screws on the center dash piece? I haven't taken that off yet, but I would think there is more? The large black plastic piece where the radio is fit into (including the small cubby hole storage thing would have to be removed to right?
If anyone has a photo or a basic walkthrough, that would help a lot. I already search, and found a picture of the 96 showing two screws and another thread showing help on a 95.
Thanks in advance!

you need to remove the glove box, driver's side lower trim, and the center trim panel... glove box has two screws that are a royal pita to get at from the bottom on the hinges, drivers side trim has 2 screws in the bottom of the panel on either side you'll have to take out, then there's a total of 6 holding the center piece in, including the two you can see over the cup holders, 4 concealed by the other trim panels
then it's simply 1 or 2 screws holding the radio into the slot from the bottom.. take those out, push radio forward...
install new radio, reverse process
don't forget to disconnect the batter first though
to get the drivers side out, there's some metal clips holding it in place... just pull down and towards the seats

The glovebox really isn't all that bad as long as you use a 8mm socket on a shorty extension.
Once I got that off, I was able to shove a LONG wrench in the gap and push the old aftermarket radio out. From there, I was home free. I replaced the old HU with another one of the same brand so the wiring harness was already ready to go. Probably the easiest HU install I've ever done, I was just a bit hesitant because I've never installed on a Civic.
Anyhow, thanks for the help!!
