Alpine type R
you should have gone with the dual 2 ohm subs and get a mono with 1000 RMS (alpine mrd-1000), but in your case you got the 4 ohm versions, so you should find a 1 ohm stable mono amp thats rated to 1000 RMS. I have a 12" Type-R and a 600 RMS alpine mrd-605 amp, and it sounds great.
.... That doesnt make a lick of sence. Every speaker is 4 ohms. Even yours. But it is dual voice coil, meaning that it hastwo voice coils at 4 ohms each. If we refer to the current division principle, 1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2, 1/Rt = 1/4 + 1/4, 1/Rt = 2/4, Rt/1 = 4/2, Rt = 2. Total resistance is 2 ohms. So your one speaker produces 2 ohms resistance, same as what his type R dual voice coils do. You only need a 2 ohm amp because you only have one sub. Adding a second sub like yours in parrallel to your current one will make the resistance 1 ohm.
Umm one thing that did cross my mind is wiring the dual voice coils in series, and the amps in parallel, creating a total of 4 ohm resistance. So you would only need a 4 ohm stable at that produces 1000W RMS at 4 ohms. This may be easier to find that a 1 ohm stable amp but it may still prove a challange because even the before mentioned MRD-M1005 is only 1000W RMS at 2 ohms at 14.4v. So it will fall pittyfully short of the required 1000 WattsRMS at 4 ohm at 12v required.
BTW, the MRD-M605 is 600W RMS at 2 ohms for 14.4v, so its only about 400W RMS in a car.

Every speaker is 4ohms?
So my dual 1s are 4ohms? And cabinent speakers that are single 8 are really 4 too?

AND CHAOS....by the way he got 2 subs. Anyways, i was saying he should have gotten a mrd-1000 if he had gotten 2 2ohm DVC subs, wich would have given him a total 2 ohm load. and the mrd-605 produces 600 watts RMS at 14.4volts, wich my car running is pretty close to that. also you said to get an amp that can handle 1000 watts at 4 ohms, wich would be more expensive than finding a mono amp that can handle 1 ohm. Don't come in here with your formulas (wich I know cause i'm an electrician and car electronics installer) and think your smarter than everybody. and by the way not all speakers are 4ohms......
all you need is a mono block that does a 1000rms at 1ohm... if you give us a budget we can help you out with that. using a class d mono block is much more efficient to use on your electrical system for your subs... i really hope you amp your speakers too cuz you prolly wont hear a lot with just bass...

Any are you refering to me as the little ***** that doesnt know anything or the727kid?
when i was talking about the dual 2 ohm version, i was talking about the dual 2 ohm each coil, wich in fact will give him 1 ohm or 4 ohms each sub, wich then can be brought to 2ohms. but he got the dual 4ohm coils wich can be wired to 2 ohms or 8 ohms each sub, wich can then be brought to 4 ohms. and yes i was talking to you cause i hate people that try to correct me when I right, if you have an opinion, sure go ahead, but don't be writting comments like ".... That doesnt make a lick of sence" at my posts. And yes a mono amp is better on your electrical system.
Sorry for the confusion. Try and be more specific when you are talking about these kinds of things because you as a sparky would know that things can get very messy, very quickly when there is one little error.
