i would say it should if your speakers aftermarket.... get a 4channel amplifier with somemore power and rewire the speakers from amp to speakers!
im gonna do the same thing as soon as i get enough cash to buy a orion 4channel amp! my interior speakers SUCK bad at high volume!!!!!
only thing i think is the problem is that either thiers a external amplifier which with the aftermarket radio with more power is destroying the qualitly OR the speaker wires are so small they cannt handle the power.........

its not neccesary to "upgrade" your speaker wire from the amp to speakers. But a good four channel amp with adjustable crossover will help to dial oout distortion.

id say it is... have you seen them tiny stock wires.LOL

i had a friend try to push 2 15s that was twice the big as my cheap @ss subs and my amp with half the power..... why i look at his setup and see some TINY typical household speaker wires.LOL i slaped on my fater wires and very nice bass...... told his @ss to go to walmart and buy some larger speaker wire! my speakers have a harsh sounds when you turn up the volume over 22, goes up to 33 and in my truck it sounded fine up to 30.... same components, same radio... different car and smaller wires!

the car was designed for that stock radio... so where probably only made large enough to handle that much power..... just not designed for changing the setup!

I would definitely run an amp and aftermarket speaker wire. You don't have to go crazy with it. But replace the speaker wire.
