Default audio idea

i was just messing with the equalizer on my car system trying to get the perfect sound from my system and i thought why is there not a head unit that can perfectly do this for me like the artist intended me to hear it. could it be possible to embed that information on the cds track or mp3 and then have a head unit that can read that and automatically set the equalizer the way the artist intended it to be heard. has this ever been tried before ???

I know with Alpine source units that are equipped with I-Personalize you can burn a CD with audio settings and load it into the unit and the CD automatically sets all the settings on the source unit.

I dont see why something like your idea couldnt be made into reality.

You can do that with an iPod. iTunes allows you to set the equalizer for each individual song if you want.

Pioneer P1R head units have a feature where you place a microphone at your listening position and it EQ's the system flat for you. However, that may not be the way the recording artist intended it to sound. The way the sound is represented is hugely dependent on the speakers and amplifiers within the system. You can have a flat response on an EQ and still sound like crap.

Alpine has their imprint setup that will measure the acoustics of your car and adjust the output for optimum sound and staging. but i'm not sure if it does eq adjustments.

and if what you are talking about is possble, it would be really hard to pic one good eq setup because every car has different speaker locations and different types and sizes of speakers. an eq setup in one car will sound completely different than in another car. so its not really possible to say that there is one perfect eq setup that will universally sound the best in every car.
