Default RE: bandpass or ported

ORIGINAL: robw
Oh dude stay away from both, get a sealed box. The power you lose is well made up from the fact that it's more than a trunk rattling, you might actually HEAR something. Everybody gets a bandpass their first outing, or they had somebody to smack them upside the head - it's just something you learn from and move on.

If you want any kind of clarity please, please, please do your ears a favor and get a sealed box. Anything less is horrible sounding.
wow, you must have heard some CRAPPY boxes... if ported is so bad why do some of the best home theater and car audio systems are ported? A well built ported box can sound amazing (both accurate and tight)... also, just so you know, a sealed box is NOT guarenteed to sound good... often times a crappy sealed box can be too high in the midbass range and buzz... anyway, I just say have a well built box that is meant for you woofer
