Blinking LED for alarm
Hey guys this is what I want to do. I want to install a blinking LED light in my 97 EX. My fiance's car just got broken into the day after Christmas but they didn't touch my car. I just got a Pioneer CD deck installed today and don't have the funds (yet) for a alarm. I asked the guy that installed my deck and he said it has to be run off a low power source but what??? I got a LED from radio shack but don't know where to hook it up. Any help is appreciated!!!
It seems like you can get flashing LEDs at Radio shack also or maybe that's what you got. If so, just tap into a power souce from radio or cig. lighter / 12 volt power source plug. Drill a hole for it somewhere in the dash, preferrably in a knock out panel, like a blank plate for a acces. switch, so it's noticable from outside the car of cource. Check the voltage on the LED. Make sure it's rated @ 12 volts. You will probably have to a small toggle switch inline with it to turn off and on when you get in and out. That sounds funny. Make sure you always take the face off of your radio. Good luck.
there is 3 wires one for the ground, one for the constant power and one for switched ground. the constant and ground can be wired directly, then the 3rd (switched ground) you can either put a switch on it (you'll have to switch it yourself) or you put a relay on it so it will be done automatically when you turn off your car (it will start) then when you turn on your car (it will stop). relays are cheap, so if you need more info how to hook it up, let me know.
