run a cleaner cd through it or blast it out with an airduster-compressor. some cd players(like the alpine in my dead prelude) will be picky if they are dusty, especially with burnt cds.

that is in reference to .cda audio format--the old school burnt cd.

+1 on that, most aftermarket decks come with mp3 playback now tho and you can get one for cheap.
Im burning my cds in data format, dosent work on many other c.d players tho..but i can put like 100 songs on 1 c.d. But soon burning will be a thing of the past, once i get a ipod

if you use iTunes you can go under preferences to make it burn songs instead of mp3.s i think it burns as an m4a. that might work better

burned cds are a finicky kind of thing I've noticed, I've seen some radios that will play some discs and not others. Just go out and spring 20 bucks for a good disc and solve your problems forever!!!
