Default CD Player turning off and on

I'm asking for a friend. He's got a 98 LX and his CD player turns on and off randomly, up until he's going 45 miles an hour, then it alwasy stays on. No other way to really describe it, it loses power, then gets power again and comes right back on. His lights dont dim with the bass hits so his car seems to be getting a steady 12V, so idk. Also his lights turn off around his shifter every now and then as well. Not synchronized with the CD player turning on and off, but randomly on their own. Ideas?

A short or broken wire maybe? That's really weird, I don't really know what else it could be.

Must the car be moving? Or is the problem actually related to engine rpm? In other words, in neutral, does the CD player turn ON and OFF when the engine is idling but stay ON when the rpms are increased to let's say 3000. If so, then charging by the alternator may be suboptimal or unable to cope with the electrical demand.
