i would personally go with dei brand alarm system like the clifford, viper, python, hornet, automate. you know you will get quality. i have heard about crimestopper but have never used it before. not sure how good it is. but i would say the installation is the main thing about having a good alarm system and having a bad system. the main thing is hiding the wire, brain, and siren so thieves can't access it easily. i'm sure crimestopper is probably good though. i have a clifford 50.5 and i love it.

I am anti-DEI because I don't like one of DEI's higher up douchenozzle executives. As a result, I switched to Autopage alarms. I still use DEI battery backup units and DEI branded actuators because they are some of the best for the money. I just won't shell out major money for their higher end car alarms.

Other semi-decent alarm brands are the Crimegaurd and Audiovox Prestige units.

My two favorite add on features are a battery backup unit and a infrasonic sensor that detects changes in air pressure. Since throwing my shock sensor in the trash and switching to the infrasonic sensor (Autopage SIS-12), I haven't had one false alarm when the thunder claps or when my 17 year old neighbor comes booming down the street (knock on wood).

is the infrasonic sensor the motion detector thats place inside the car and detects people near your car? do you have a model number for that?

The infrasonic sensor detects changes in air pressure BUT you have to make sure your windows are completely rolled up when you arm the system or it is a moot point.

Autopage makes the SIS-12 infrasonic sensor

DEI makes the 509u and calls it an ultrasonic sensor

DEI also makes the 508d which is the radar motion sensor

I believe I am going to go with a digital tilt sensor on my Mustang and either a 509u or a 508d in lieu of a shock sensor along with a DEI battery backup!

ETA: With regards to radar motion sensors, I would use the Crime Guard AU94T over the DEI 508d because the DEI units used to be horrible for causing false triggers.

well any motion sensor wont work for crap for tinted windows...

best addition to any alarm system is a tilt sensor IMO. helps protect from those sneaky tow truck jobs.... and rim thieves....
