Question Double Din Help

I bought a Kenwood DDX-616 DD headunit. I put it into a 2000 Civic VP. It has the Double Din opening, but when I went to put in the cage for the headunit it wouldnt slide into the opening. So I had to take the climate control panel out and mount it onto that. So when I put the headunit back into the slot it is now recessed in there about a good inch, which is no problem, but now I can't put the trim ring around the headunit. Anyone know of a way I can have it so the headunit is flush with the dash and able to have the trim ring put around it?

I had somewhat of the same issue with my Pioneer DD unit in my 99 Civic. I ended up finding a trim piece for aftermarket radio for a Ford Ranger to work perfectly with minor modifying. I was lucky and picked it up for like $5 when Circuit city was going out of business

for mine I just bought a best buy mounting kit, had to mess with some tabs/screws to hold it to the entire climate control unit, then just slide it where it mounts and secured everything the way it was before you popped it out. Trim and everything looks very good.
