Well, here's a link to an awesome site, it really helps out.
You can search for brands, best wattage, etc.

most people on this forum are going to tell you not to purchase anything sony. your best bet is with mid to high end pioneer, alpine, and jvc. as for speakers, it depends on how much you're willing to spend and how much bass.

Look the setup I have right now I think is great for a civic because they are so small. I have alpine type-s speakers all around and an alpine deck. Now for the sub I have a 1,500 wat Almani(SP) 10inch Sub thats powered buy and Almani(SP) 900 wat amp...continuous power is 750wat. Lets just say it sounds really good and is loud yet my truck doesnt rattle. I hate it when I see cars trucks rattling, and plus its a civic not an SUV so dont put 2 15s in it LOL. But anyways if you going got a nice clean crisp sound with good bass i would recommend something like mine. If you into crazy base then get a 12 or maybe two, but in my opinion a civic should be slapping hella hard.

Two 15s would actually hit less than two 12s in a civic

I made this thread a while ago and it never got stickied for some reason...
That should explain just about everything you may need to know, if you have any more questions feel free to ask

True dat. I put in two 15"s out of my friends 96 Escort because he was selling it and they hit hard in his car but not so much in mine. Plus thay are a pain in the rear to get in and out. Even in my sedan I had a time and a half. Also I like sony's headunits but not much else.
