Default Hood pin switch help!!

This seems simple enough, but obviously not for me. I need to install a pin switch for my hood\alarm. You know, if someone opens my hood my alarm goes off. Can i tie into the factory door pins or something else? The switch/pin I have looks like the one below. A diagram for the actual wiring would help. Thanks for the help

factory alarm or aftermarket?? most aftermarket alarms have either a hoodpin input, or a negative input instant trigger.

Its an aftermarket alarm. Clifford. It does have a hood switch installed already, but its hooked up to the remote start, so that when the hood is open, the car wont start. Safety feature i guess...

if its on the same alarm system it should be wired together inside the brain. but if its dirty/rusty and not making a connection or just bent and sticking in the close position then it wouldnt work.
try to start the car and then pop the hood. if it cuts off then the switch is working fine. if it doesnt cut the motor off then maybe the wire poped off the bottom tip or the contacts are rusty/dirty and not making contact like it should!
those switches are commonly bent as well and if that plastic rod bends just slightly it will keep the contact points in the open position and unless the switch is all the way poped out it wont make contact.
i dont really like those switches myself. what i prefer now is tilt sensors, which are basically mercury switches.

The switch works fine. If the car is running and I pop the hood it shuts off. I might just have to take it back to the people who installed the alarm.

that's crazy. i wonder if it's an issue with the 5202. i've got a 5902 and the hood pin wire will trigger the alarm.
