Default carbon fiber hood pin question

I just bought a CF hood and i heard that i have to buy hood pins for the hood so it doesnt flap open when i'm driving in the highway. Is this true? if not wuts the real reason ppl put it on there hoods?

because some carbon fiber hoods and fiberglass hoods have very crappy hood latches, so the companies say to use hood pins in order to reduce the risk of the hood disconnecting from latch. if you have a good quality hood, then sometimes you don't have to use pins (such as in my case), plus it's a pain to deal with sometimes.

^What he said. Its pretty much for safety. But if your CF hood does not have a hood latch, you will need them. Iv heard stories of CF hoods with latches still coming loose so thats why people also have hood pins.

if you have a good quality name brand hood then you probably wont need them. i have a vis one and all i had to do was adjust the screws around the latch that came on it and the hood locks perfectly! i personally dont like pins anyways. i dont like the thought of drilling a hole through my $600 hood.

if you have a vis hood, you arent going to have any problems. just get it to where the hood closes flush with your front grille and you are good.
